Power Boats
Another aspect of club sailing for which you may occasionally be thankful is the attention of the safety boat.  Yes, you should be able to right your boat without assistance if you capsize, you shouldn't flirt with a lee shore and get stuck in the trees and the halyard shouldn’t break and leave you without a sail but occasionally it can be nice to see the Safety Boat on hand driven by someone who knows what they’re doing, when it all goes wrong.
Power Boat courses leading to an RYA Power Boat Level 2 qualification using RYA Powerboat Instructors can be arranged by Roger Bennett and Phil Bergquist. Safety Boat courses can also be organised and are a key part of safer sailing at SilverWing.
First Aid
This is also part of the RYA Certification programme.  Please refer to Roger Bennett for details.
A briefing for Duty Officers
We can organise a symposium if there is an expressed need from, for example, new members who are concerned about their role on the duty team.  Please contact David Finch if you are interested in such a programme. Best wishes and good sailing.
